The setting up of a rugby club in the village was first muted in 1988 by a group of disgruntled rugby supporters whilst sitting around the log fire in their local hostelry (The Sully Inn), drowning their sorrows over the poor run of results by Penarth rugby club.

It seems that some bright spark (no pun intended) said "it makes you feel like starting your own rugby club" and unfortunately some other sad soul piped up with "why not"!

Well here we are, years later having survived many trials and tribulations. Whilst many of the clubs that we played against in our early days are no longer in existence, we are still going strong with a whole new generation of players. We put the survival down to the efforts and commitment of the players and the committee.

Our local hostelry has also moved on since then and we are proud to be supported by the sea-shore grill bar and restaurant. Situated just down the road from our pitch, the sea-shore grill has been providing after game meals to the Sully RFC team and their guests for the last year, much to the approval of everyone who visits.

Not a week passes without the following phrase being uttered...

..."All we have at our place is sausage and chips, and bread if your lucky"!
